Free Henry Kapono concert April 26
(Governor Joseph Flores Beach Park, Guam) – Members of the public are invited to attend the Heroes Homecoming on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Governor Joseph Flores Beach Park to welcome home the members of the 1st Battalion, 294th Infantry who recently returned home from a long deployment to Afghanistan. The homecoming also honors all who have previously deployed with the Guam National Guard, and those who “held down the fort” at home with critical duties on Guam while their comrades were deployed.
The celebration for the heroes begins at 3 PM with a remembrance of Guam’s fallen heroes followed by recognition of all Guam National Guard service members, a parachute jump into the park displaying the Guam flag and testimonials of family members. The free concert by Henry Kapono will begin at approximately 4 PM and festivities conclude at approximately 7 PM with fireworks. Free parking is provided at John F. Kennedy High School with bus shuttles to and from the park between the hours of 12 PM and 9 PM.
The festivities take place in conjunction with the 27th Annual Micronesia Island Fair, a celebration of food, dance, and cultural displays from throughout Guam and Micronesia. Together the two events are a memorable opportunity for the entire family to enjoy.
