Joint Region Marianas declares Condition of Readiness 3

ASAN, Guam (Oct. 16, 2013) – Joint Region Marianas has established Condition of Readiness (COR) 3 as a result of destructive winds of 50 knots or more expected within 48 hours.  This will be implemented at both Andersen Air Force Base (AFB) and Naval Base Guam (NBG) immediately.

Tropical storm force winds are expected to begin affecting the area within the next 48 hours. The National Weather Service has placed Guam under a Tropical Storm Watch, which indicates that damaging winds between 39-73 mph are possible within the next 48 hours.

Military personnel are currently securing facilities and base housing residents are instructed to commence heavy weather preparedness efforts.
