Santa Rita, GU — A Multi-Agency Strike Force Operation (MASFO) was conducted February 6th through 9th in Tanapag Harbor, Saipan. The MASFO was conducted in an effort to enforce federal and territorial regulations ensuring the safe transport of cargo while deterring and detecting contraband moving through the port.

The operation brought together the U.S. Coast Guard, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) Customs, and Guam Homeland Security. A total of 20 agents, officers and inspectors participated in this enforcement operation that resulted in 149 containerized cargo inspections.

Leveraging the jurisdictional authorities of each agency, the inter-agency teams inspected freight containers and vehicles ensuring compliance with the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code as well as CNMI Custom regulations.
