PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Marianas awarded BME & Sons, Inc., of Barrigada, Guam a $7.8 million firm-fixed-price task order today under a multiple award construction contract for retro-commissioning of facilities at Naval Base Guam (NBG).

The work to be performed provides for miscellaneous repairs and upgrades to existing building systems that includes hot water heat recovery system, air conditioning equipment and lighting fixtures to increase energy efficiency for several buildings on NBG.

"We are very pleased to award this contract to a local small business," said Cmdr. Douglas King, NAVFAC Marianas executive officer. "This work will support Guam's economy and help maximize energy efficiencies throughout Naval Base Guam."

Work is expected to be completed by November 2014. The funds are from fiscal year 2013 Navy Operation and Maintenance funding. Four proposals were received for this task order.
