NEX Guam celebrates diversity
Navy Exchange (NEX) Guam held its second annual Diversity Event Oct. 13 at the NEX main complex on U.S. Naval Base Guam.
This year, tables for Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Puerto Rico, Saipan, Japan, Korea, China, Philippines and United States were setup to showcase cultural items indigenous to their own country.
Rapidly increasing globalization environment necessitates understanding of diverse cultures and its potential of yielding a beneficial factor and improving quality of life for everyone. Diversity encompasses much broader perspective than what many people may think. Diversity is not a limited concept about accepting other ethnic group or cultures, but it is also about understanding and respecting others regardless of their race, age, gender, religion, social status, physical and mental condition, most importantly acknowledging and accepting otherness that are different from ours. Diversity is about dignity and respect for all.
NEX Guam truly values the diverse, non-discriminatory work environment that attributes to quality of life for each individual, our organization and the community. We take pride in our endeavors and achievement.
