The Secretary of the Navy’s active duty fund drive in support of The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society Guam achieves fundraising record
SANTA RITA, GUAM—The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society’s (NMCRS) annual active duty fund drive (ADFD) provides an opportunity to raise funds for the direct benefit of our shipmates and fellow Marines. The society receives no government funding and depends on the support of active duty and retired Sailors and Marines to help those in need at home and around the globe.
The Fund Drive kicked off on February 29, 2016 with a cake cutting ceremony at the Exchange food court and included various fundraising events over the course of two months, which included car washes hosted by the U.S. Naval Hospital Guam, EODMU5, and HSC-25, a spaghetti lunch hosted by HSC-25, chili dog fundraiser hosted by NBG, grocery bagging hosted by the U.S. Naval Hospital Guam, NEX coupon sales and a successful 5k race.
With the support of LTJG Gregory Kemper (ADFD Chair) and HM1 Alfred Canoy (ADFD Treasurer), the 2016 ADFD far exceeded its $153,000 goal with contributions totaling $168,171, a historical record for the Guam office.
“After months of planning and hard work, we are delighted to announce everyone’s commitment to the society’s annual fund drive paid off,” said NMCRS Guam Director, Karen Fahland. “This year the Guam office was able to achieve a 21% increase in total donations from the previous year. I want to send my deepest appreciation to all those that contributed both their time and money to making this year’s fund drive the most successful in our society’s history here in Guam.”
The society will continue to accept donations throughout the year. There are several ways to give – allotment, credit card or cash. Visit http://nmcrsfunddrive.org/guam/ to learn more and donate today.
