Visiting Sailors to Volunteer at Local Schools

ASAN, Guam – Sailors from USS Preble (DDG 88) and USS Antietam (CG 54) will volunteer at local elementary schools next week to talk with students about their careers and aid in cleanup efforts to prepare the campuses for the upcoming school year.

•    Wettengel Elementary School -- Preble Sailors are scheduled to be at the school July 1, 9:45 a.m. to 2 p.m.    
•    Price Elementary School – Antietam Sailors are scheduled to be at the school July 2, 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Preble is an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer named for Commodore Edward Preble. Preble is the sixth ship to bear the name and was commissioned Nov. 9, 2002 in Boston. 

Antietam is a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser named for the 1862 Battle of Antietam and is the third ship to bear the name. Antietam was commissioned June 6, 1987 in Baltimore.
