SANTA RITA, Guam (Jan. 14, 2019) – U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG) will conduct its Final Evaluation Problem (FEP) exercise Jan. 22-25.

FEP is a Commander, Naval Installations Command tri-annual certification event assessing the command, control, communications and Navy Security Force on all U.S. Navy installations. The certification has three main checkpoints: command assessment of readiness and training (CART), regional assessment (RAS) and the final evaluation problem.

FEP, which will take place on Naval Base Guam to include Apra Harbor, involves training scenarios that replicate real-world events, and is designed to enhance the training and readiness of Navy security forces to respond to threats to installations and units. FEP is not in response to any specific threat.

Exercises will incorporate training aids to add realism to each event. Residents are advised to not be alarmed if they see or hear an increase in military presence near or on NBG. Exercises are scheduled to last from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There is the possibility of increased patrols and security activity on and around NBG as a result of this planned training. Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions to normal operations, but there may be times when the exercise causes increased traffic around base or delays in base access.

As part of the exercise, the NBG Giant Voice (GV) system will be activated, and residents in surrounding areas of the GV speakers will hear exercise announcements throughout the week.
