United Airlines celebrates 40th anniversary of service between Guam and Japan

GUAM, October 2, 2017 – United Airlines celebrated the 40th anniversary of its service between Guam and Japan with a water canon salute and a Hafa Adai gate ceremony on Sunday, Oct. 1 at the Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport on Guam. Joined by Guam Visitors Bureau, Miss Earth Guam and Miss World Guam, the United team greeted passengers on UA Flight 827 from Tokyo, Japan (NRT) with leis at the gate and hosted a reception for passengers in the arrivals terminal.

“The 40th anniversary of the service between Guam and Japan is a significant part of United’s proud legacy as Guam’s hometown airline,” said Sam Shinohara, United’s Managing Director of Operations Asia/Pacific. “We are proud of our nearly 50 years of service to Guam and Micronesia and our role in the growth of tourism in the islands.”

With three daily flights between Guam and Tokyo, United offers the most direct non-stop flights between the two destinations and five other cities in Japan.
