Andersen Elementary School’s (AES) third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students performed during the Veterans Day music program in front of friends and family members at the school on Andersen Air Force Base Nov. 9.

Dlorah Puckett, AES music teacher, directed the annual event, which featured the national anthem, Guam Hymn, Lady Liberty, A Long, Long Journey to Heal, A Grateful Nation and America, I Give My Thanks to You.

The colors were posted by the Cub Scouts of America, Pack 20 headed by Chief Naval Air Crewman (NAC/AW/SW) Steve Turo, of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25, and Capt. Eric Johnson, of the 36th Contingency Response Group.

“The performance was very touching and moving,” said Amy Longoria, parent of a third-grade AES student.
Adding a personal touch to the performance, pictures of deployed parents of AES students and each of the 14 veterans currently working at the school were shown in a slideshow during the performance.

“As a veteran of both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, I was deeply moved by the performance,” said Capt. Jacob Dowdell, U.S. Air Force Reserves and AES third-grade teacher.
