DoDEA leadership seeking nominations for the 2019 DoDEA Principal of the Year
Every year, the Department of Defense Education Activity recognizes the best of its school administrators through the Principal of the Year program. But, in order to find the cream of the crop, DoDEA needs your help.
Students, parents, school staff, and military community members are encouraged to nominate their favorite principal for 2019 Principal of the Year. Nominations need to be submitted by October 19, 2018, at dodea.edu/PrincipaloftheYear.cfm.
The POY program recognizes school principals who demonstrate outstanding leadership in support of educational excellence, as well as exemplary contributions to their profession. These principals are tireless champions for high-quality learning opportunities for students. They set high standards for instruction, student achievement, and character, all while ensuring a safe learning environment.
The DoDEA selection panel will determine a Regional Principal of the Year from each region in DoDEA, based on key performance areas. Regional winners will receive awards and leadership opportunities. They will have the opportunity to serve as peer models and coaches, facilitate learning experiences, and to be a voice for school leadership excellence.
One Regional Principal of the Year will then be chosen as DoDEA’s 2019 Principal of the Year. This person will represent DoDEA nationally and be considered for either the National Elementary or Secondary Principal of the Year through the National Association of Elementary School Principals or the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
Local communities can show their school principals how much they appreciate them by visiting the POY webpage at dodea.edu/PrincipaloftheYear.cfm and clicking on the link at the top of the page.
