As part of the service learning component of their Supervision & Management program, Guam Community College students are sponsoring a “Cure for Kaila” bone marrow drive for Kaila Garrido on Saturday, October 20, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Agana Shopping Center.  Kaila is the 16-year-old daughter of Michael and Kim Garrido of Mangilao. She is a student at George Washington High School, and has been diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia. She now needs a bone marrow transplant to survive.

“Members of the community who take a few minutes to register and do the simple, painless mouth swab on October 20 will have an opportunity to help Kaila or one of the hundreds of patients around the world who are searching for a match,” said Lisa Ibanez, one of the bone marrow drive co-coordinators.

For more information, please contact Lisa Ibanez at 483-7254 or email her at: plibanez@yahoo.com; or Cherie Munoz at 487-8778 or email cherele2437@yahoo.com.
