Guam students compete in DeCA marketing competition

[Mangilao, GUAM, Feb 01, 2019 9am-5pm] - Over 115 high school DECA® member students enrolled in GCC’s Marketing secondary program will compete in the DECA® Marketing Competition to be held on February 01, 2019 8:30am -5:00 pm at the Guam Community College Multi-Purpose Auditorium. The competition is a national standards based Marketing curriculum comprised of an exam and two role play sessions with judges who are current Marketing and business professionals from the community. Many judges are past alumni of the DECA® organization who had a head start in their career from their high school GCC Marketing program, completed their postsecondary studies at GCC and have gone unto Guam’s businesses and organizations well prepped and prepared for their career of choice.

“DECA Inc. is a not-for-profit student organization with more than 200,000 members in all 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Canada, China, Germany, Guam, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain”.1 DECA® prepares students to be academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, and experienced leaders.

“Career and Technical Education Month® or CTE Month® is a public awareness campaign that takes place each February to celebrate the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country”.2 The Marketing program at Guam Community College, the leader in Career and Technical Education on Guam, is proud to present this event to continue to encourage growth and competition for its students.

Competitors and participants of the Guam DECA® Marketing Competition will be recognized and winners announced at the awards ceremony to be held at the Pacific Star Resort & Spa, Chamorro Ballroom, on February 09, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
