If you have a future architect, designer, or builder in your house, bring her or him to the NAWIC Guam Block Kids Event this Saturday, March 7, from 8:30 – noon at the GCC Multipurpose Auditorium (Bldg. 400). NAWIC, the National Association of Women in Construction, has teamed up with Guam Community College to offer students in grades 1-5 the opportunity to imagine and build a structure during this first NAWIC Block Kids event on Guam. Block Kids is designed to engage elementary school children in the creative thinking and reasoning skills that professionals use in the design and construction industries.

At the Block Kids event, students will be given a tool kit and have 45 minutes to create a “mini-model” of a commercial structure of their own imagination. Local industry volunteers will then meet with the students and judge their “design,” the oral presentation of their design, and their  clarity of purpose. Awards will be given to each age group and an overall winner will advance to the NAWIC regional competition.

If you are interested in registering your child(ren) for the NAWIC Block Kids event, please contact Ms. Shierly E. Cáceres, Marketing Coordinator for Construction Group, at 922-6007 or 487- 8798.
