7.5k race to benefit big brothers big sisters of Guam & Guam Girl Scouts
Upper Tumon, GU (May 24, 2013)--Runners from all Guam’s villages and military bases are invited to take their running game to the next level at the 4th Annual Nissan 7.5k Race on June 1, 2013. The race can be completed solo or as a two-person relay team. There will also be a 2k Fun Run for the whole family. All proceeds will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guam & Guam Girl Scouts.
“Fitness has become a greater priority for our community,” said Vickie Fish, executive director of Guam Girl Scouts. “With more 5ks happening, we hope that a 7.5k will encourage both seasoned and novice runners to join in and to stretch their goals!”
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guam & Guam Girl Scouts offer excellent youth programs for the island community. Both rely on fundraising to continue their vital work. “This race unites two organizations that are equally committed to the positive development of Guam’s youth,” said Vanessa Estella, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guam.
In 2012, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guam and Guam Girl Scouts each received $5,000 from the proceeds of the annual 7.5k.
Race highlights include raffle prizes and awards to the top three division winners and 1st overall team in the relay category. The first 500 finishers will receive a dri-fit finisher’s shirt. Volunteers from local businesses, the Dededo Mayor’s Office, Naval Base Guam, and Andersen Air Force Base will host water stations and help to assure safety of race participants.
Registration fees are $10 per person and $20 per relay team (team of two) in advance. Race day registration costs are $12 per person and $24 per relay team.
