St. Patrick’s Day has inspired us here at to seek out something a bit more sophisticated than Green Beer to celebrate the “The Luck O’the Irish.”

These cocktails provide the obligatory green color to honor St. Patrick and use readily available ingredients. They range from the classic Grasshopper to the trendy Green Coconut and the sweet Green Eyed Blonde (a shot!) and will delight your guests (or yourself) with new tastes.

The green in the cocktails comes from either Creme de Menthe (green) or Midori Melon both of which can easily be found and should be staples in a well-stocked bar since the Creme de Menthe provides a delightful creamy mint flavor and the Midori is, of course, melon flavored.


  • 1 oz Creme de Menthe (green)
  • 1 oz White Cacao
  • 2 ozs heavy cream

Combine ingredients and shake well with ice. Strain and serve in a small martini glass.

Green Apple

  • 2 ozs Vodka
  • Apple juice
  • 1 tsp Creme de Menthe (green)

Pour vodka into a Collins glass over ice, fill with apple juice add Creme de Menthe and stir.

Green Eyed Blonde

  • 1/3 oz Midori
  • 1/3 oz Banana Liqueur
  • 1/3 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream

Carefully layer ingredients in the above order in a shot glass. This is very tasty but strong so be aware!

* Green Coconut

  • 2 oz Midori melon liqueur
  • 1 oz Malibu coconut rum
  • sweet and sour mix
  • cream

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour over ice in a Collins glass, and serve.
* Jolly Green Rancher

  • 1 shot Southern Comfort
  • Splash Midori
  • Splash sour mix

Combine in a shot glass. Tastes just like the candy.
