GCC makes “Best for Vets 2014” list
Guam Community College is proud to announce that it has been selected to the Military Times Best for Vets: Career & Technical Colleges 2014 List. The Military Times Best for Vets distinction recognizes and rewards GCC and 37 other schools for our commitment to providing opportunities to America’s veterans.
“We are honored to have made this list. The survey conducted was extensive, and although we were no match for schools with far more resources, our commitment to our veteran students came through,” said Dr. Mary Okada, GCC President. “We do what we can to help our returning veterans build a better quality of life through education and career training, and we pledge to do even more in the coming years. We are planning to organize a Veteran’s Office on campus, and we are also forming a Veteran Students organization,” she added.
To create the Career & Technical Colleges rankings, the Military Times EDGE scored schools’ survey responses based on what veterans said is most important to them, as well as on the magazine’s editorial judgment. This year, for the first time, academic quality measures were also factored into the final rankings.
“As the premier publication for post-military careers and education, Military Times EDGE magazine’s editorial mission is to help its readers get ahead by providing vital information and expert guidance. The Best for Vets rankings were developed as a part of this mission, directing readers to the top institutions that value military experience and prove it through incentives and special programs,” according to a Military Times EDGE media release.
