(HAGATNA, GU)--- Author and local radio personality Kyle Mandapat revealed the cover art of his first children's book, “The Ant from Guam” during a press event at the Agana Shopping Center.

Mandapat also announced that sales proceeds from the book will be donated to the Guam Public Library System.

“100% of all the money raised by the sales of this book will go to the library,” announced Mandapat. “This is a book for more books.”

GPLS representative Teresita Kennimer and Board Member Kris Seerengan were on hand to express support for the project and also announced plans for a children's library upgrade.

Seerengan revealed that this was the first time a fundraising project like this has been offered to the library to his recollection.

According to Mandapat, the story tells the tale of John the ant who must make his way across Marine Corp Drive on his way home while dealing with all the obstacles along the way.

“He is not a fire ant,” joked Mandapat.

“The Ant from Guam” is available now exclusively at the SM Store at the Agana Shopping Center and online at for $14 a hardcover or $8 per paperback.

The book was produced completely on Guam.
