The War in the Pacific National Historical Park staff found a WWII Japanese mortar March 17 on Asan Beach. Unexploded Ordnance is found nearly every week on guam.
Although the object founds March 17 may look harmless (see picture above), this unremarkable object is actually a deadly Japanese type 89 mortar round from World War II. What should you do if you discover objects like this on the beaches of Guam? Call 911!
