SEARCH FOR MISSING SWIMMER OFF GUAM CONTINUES

Santa Rita, Guam — As of 4 p.m. June 10, responders from multiple agencies are searching for a missing swimmer off the western coast of Guam. The search continued throughout the night.

During the afternoon of June 9, watch standers at U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam’s Rescue Sub-Center received a report from Guam Fire Department’s dispatch regarding a missing 51-year-old male spear fisherman that goes by the name Tsutomu Hancox off the coast of Agat Bay, Guam, in the vicinity of Agat Cemetery. He was last seen
wearing blue shorts, no shirt, and yellow fins.

Sector Guam is coordinating search efforts for multiple resources to include: a helicopter from U.S. Navy Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Two-Five; a shoreline team from Guam Police Department; and a 45-foot rescue boat from Coast Guard Station Apra Harbor.

Any individuals with information regarding Mr. Hancox’s whereabouts are requested to contact Guam Police Department, Guam Fire Department, or Coast Guard Sector Guam.
