The Shop Guam Festival, touted as the biggest shopping event in the Western Pacific, kicked off Nov. 1 and runs through Feb. 15. As the fourth annual event, this year’s island-wide festival of discounts and deals is more than a month longer than last year’s.

Shop Guam features an array of retail, dining and entertainment discounts packed into 107 days of in-store events, culinary celebrations and cultural activities designed to coax shoppers – from near and far – to take full advantage of Guam’s tax-free shops, restaurants and attractions.

Over 200 special offers and discounts on retail, dining and entertainment are available exclusively during the Shop Guam Festival period, according to Josh Tyquiengco, Guam Visitors Bureau spokesman.

Participating businesses can be identified by their window decals, tent cards or banners.

Shoppers can pick up a free coupon booklet available at USO, Micronesia Mall, SM, Agana Shopping Center, Chamorro Village, Mayor’s Council, Outrigger, Holiday Resort, Pacific Star, Hilton, Guam Harley-Davidson, GAP, Adventure Tours and Guam Village Market with participating vendor information. In addition to being loaded with coupons, the booklet includes QR codes to help shoppers identify and locate all those deals.

The smartphone savvy can also download mobile apps from the iPhone and Android app stores that allow searching for nearby vendors by name or map location. It also details special offers available at each retailer, according to Guam Visitors Bureau. The mobile shopping guides are available in five different languages (English, Japanese, Korean, Russian and traditional as well as simplified Chinese).

Retail and service discounts range from 30 percent off on two or more items at GAP, 25 percent off AVIS daily car rentals, one free bruschetta with purchase of an entrée at Capricciosa or a free gift (silver earrings) with minimum purchase of $100 at Vince Jewelers.
