Slots still open for GFA’s youth soccer camp
There still are some slots left for Guam Football Association’s Soccer in the Sun Spring 2013 soccer camp for youth scheduled for March 25 to 28.
“The spring camp is a great opportunity for kids to remember how fun the sport can be,” said Dominic Gadia, Soccer in the Sun camp coordinator. “For the coaches, it’s an opportunity to spark the young players’ interest in pursuing the sport past the recreational level, as many lean towards eventually wanting to join the GFA National Academy after participating in camps. We see a lot of familiar faces from camps during National Academy tryouts.
“It’s also a good start for developing local, homegrown talent at a young age for future Guam national teams,” added Gadia, who also is the GFA National Academy Boys Director.
Similar to GFA’s summer camp, the weeklong soccer camp will include fun games, activities and soccer training. The camp is open to all youth in three divisions – the U8, U10, and U12 divisions. Check in time on each day of the soccer camp is 8:45 a.m. and each session runs from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
Only 80 slots are available for the spring soccer camp. The registration fee is $60 per child and includes a T-shirt and a surprise, according to the event flyer. Registration is ongoing at the GFA Main Office Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. or on Saturday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
