A tropical disturbance is developing about 310 miles east of Guam. In the next 24 hours, Andersen AFB residents can expect winds to pick up to 25 mph with heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms. The bulk of the weather will arrive Wednesday night through Friday with winds gusting to 40mph and heavy rain totaling 8-10 inches over the next 72 hours.

This system will likely form into a tropical depression in the vicinity of Guam during the next 48 hours. The location and speed at which it develops will play a large role in the wind speed and direction as well as rainfall amounts. Although the storm will slowly strengthen in the next 24-72 hours, the Andersen Weather Flight does not believe that conditions will warrant a TCCOR change (sustained 50 knot winds) at this time. Base residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and secure overhanging canopies. The Weather Flight is monitoring the situation and will post further updates as the storm nears.
