GVB announces speakers for #instaGuam Travel Talks Digital Global Summit

Guam Visitors Bureau

(August 13, 2019 - Tumon, Guam) - The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) announced today at a press conference the impressive roster of guest speakers, panelists and influencers from Guam and across the globe, who will be participating in the #instaGuam Travel Talks Digital Global Summit on Aug. 14 at the Dusit Thani Guam Resort.

“One of GVB’s objectives for this summit is to bring the world to Guam,” said GVB President & CEO Pilar Laguaña. “We were successful in securing an impressive lineup of renowned experts from large corporations like United Airlines to start-ups like Christina’s, to share their knowledge, experiences and insights with us.”

The summit’s program will focus on two specific educational tracks:

· Creator Track: Learn how to create better content, grow your channel, break into the industry and meet fellow creators. GVB has invited well known social media influencers and content creators from Guam's key source markets to share the best practices of social media marketing and online video production.

· Industry Track: Learn secrets from the experts. Learn how to leverage the digital landscape and build strategies that will bring lasting success to your business. For this track, GVB invited experts from major online travel platforms to discuss the market trends and digital revenue strategies that our businesses on Guam can learn and take away immediately to help increase sales.

GVB’s Board Chairman Sonny Ada said, “Travel Talks will be a platform where local businesses, entrepreneurs, stakeholders and students will meet and learn from global technology experts.”

GVB will be welcoming more than 300 participants from a diverse range of professions -- from business owners, marketers and educators to up and coming influencers and cultural practitioners.

The Creator Track

The summit’s schedule opens with keynote speaker Sam Kolder, a global social media influencer and Canadian filmmaker attracting 1.4 million followers on instagram, will present his digital content creativity and talk about how the rise of influencers is inspiring a new wave of global travel lifestyle.

GVB, as part of Travel Talks, is also hosting content creators and influencers from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, Russia, Korea and Japan. Influencers arrived on Guam days ago to begin a familiarization tour to learn more about the island as a unique destination and to share social media content on their respective pages. International influencers are teaming up with influencers from Guam to create content that will be presented during the summit.

The Industry Track

GVB has also secured notable speakers from TripAdvisor, Skift, Naver, Airbnb, Bookings.com, United Airlines and Line Travel Japan, to name a few.

During the press conference, Skift Editorial Strategist Paul Brady said “I commend GVB for organizing an event that can benefit business owners and tourism professional in this region. The age of technology and social media is a great tool for both public and private sectors and knows no geographic borders.”

Skift is the largest industry intelligence platform providing media, insights and marketing to key sectors of travel. Brady will serve as a speaker and moderator at the event and will present Skift’s 2019 Megatrends report. Skift is known as an information and intelligence brand at the center of transforming the future of travel.

In addition to the summit, platinum sponsor United Airlines announced an exclusive Instagram contest for summit attendees. Attendees are encouraged to post a tagged #instaGuam and #MyUnitedJourney photo or video of their best Guam adventure for a chance to win a roundtrip ticket to anywhere United flies in Asian or Micronesia.  Winners will be announced at the summit. Contest details can be found on the event’s website. GVB also established 12 Travel Talks scholarships for college students studying tourism, hospitality, marketing, or communications to gain real-world knowledge from industry professionals.

Ada further stated, “The visitor industry is dynamic and rapidly evolving. As a destination looking to grow, all local businesses should aspire to keep up with the latest trends and seek new and innovative ways to promote Guam. Every local business can benefit from this opportunity.”
