3rd Marine Division to commemorate 72nd Liberation of Guam

ASAN, Guam – Marines and Sailors with the 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF), based out of Okinawa, Japan, will commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the liberation of Guam during the annual parade July 21.

For the first time in 72 years, the Division colors will return to the island en masse and will join the III MEF band for public display during the parade.

In order to honor the service and sacrifice of those who fought on Guam and to reflect on the Division’s contributions to the battle, Marines and Sailors will tour historical sites July 19 at various locations.  

Additionally, Division Marines and Sailors of the past and present will connect during a meet and greet hosted by the 3rd Marine Division Association at the Pacific War Museum July 20.
