72nd Guam Liberation Queens Results

Hagatna, Guam.  The 72nd Liberation Queens Committee Chairperson, Agat Mayor Carol Tayama is pleased to announce the results from the final counting held last night at the Bank of Guam Headquarters in Hagatna on June 15, 2016.   Raffle committee chairperson Sinajana Vice-Mayor Rudy D. Iriarte presented the certified results to Mayor Tayama who revealed it to the awaiting anxious crowd at approximately 10:55PM.

“This year the 2016 Liberation Queens Candidates raised an amazing $108,629.00.  A portion of the funds raised will go toward very worthy causes and helping defray the costs of the annual Liberation Day Festivities, Memorials, and Prayer Services, and we want to recognize their efforts, the efforts of their parents and sponsors and the generosity of all those who supported them.” announced Mayor Tayama.

The 72nd Liberation Queen is Ms. Alana Maryee-Dolor Barcinas Chargualaf, age 21, of Inarajan who raised $33,555.00.   She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Roy Jr. and Cassandra Chargualaf. and is sponsored by the Inarajan Mayor’s Office.

Mayor Carol adds “During her reign she will represent Guam in numerous events and functions throughout the year... Queen Alana also becomes part of Guam's history as only 71 other women before her can say- they held the title- Liberation Queen.”  Congratulations to the village and people of Inarajan. 

“On behalf of the Mayors’ Council of Guam, the First Lady of Guam Mrs. Christine Calvo and the Guam Liberation Historical Society- Congratulations to all of you and a job well done!”  Mayor Tayama concluded.
