AFN TV Airing Extensive U.S. Election Coverage
AFN is bringing extensive live coverage of the U.S. mid-term elections to American military personnel serving overseas on shore and on American naval vessels at sea.
“From the earliest poll closings to the last, our viewers will be able to follow the races that mean the most to them,” said American Forces Network (AFN) News Programmer Mike Roberts.
Live election coverage on AFN|news begins Nov. 7 at midnight Central European Time (CET)/8 a.m. Japan/Korea Time (JKT). Coverage continues until 10:30 a.m. CET/6:30 p.m. JKT.
In addition to coverage on AFN|news, AFN is airing four hours of live coverage on AFN|prime Atlantic beginning at 5 a.m. CET/ 1 p.m. JKT Nov. 7. The coverage gives viewers the opportunity to experience different sides of the national political conversation.
Sailors and Marines afloat around the world will get the same live AFN|news coverage as well as the four hours of additional reporting on AFN|prime.
With the exception of Tuesday’s regularly-scheduled “Big Three” network newscasts, AFN has selected CNN and Fox News Channel as its core election coverage providers, and will alternate hourly between those sources. As more results begin to roll in, viewers will be able to select alternate sources on either AFN|news or AFN|prime Atlantic.
Since the mid-terms will be the story-of-the-day, virtually all regular news programming will be coverage of the elections, except there will be no actual results to report prior to the special evening election blocks.
