Andersen Air Force Base to conduct change of command on June 19

ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam – The 36th Wing at Andersen Air Force Base will welcome a new leader June 19 during a change of command ceremony at the base.

Brig. Gen. Andrew J. Toth will accept command of the wing from Brig. Gen. Steven D. Garland at the ceremony, scheduled to begin at 8:36 a.m. in Hangar 1.

Toth comes to Andersen from Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph in San Antonio, Texas, where he served as the Director of Assignments and Air and Space Expeditionary Force Operations at the Air Force Personnel Center. He is a command pilot with more than 2,900 hours including 339 combat flying hours in the F-15A/B/C/D, F-16 C/D and F-35A aircraft. Toth also served as the Commander of the 33rd Fighter Wing at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida from March 2011 to May 2013.

He takes command of a wing mission that includes the employment, deployment, reception and throughput of air and space forces in the Asia-Pacific region.

Garland will move on to become the Vice Commander of 14th Air Force at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. 14th Air Force is a numbered Air Force under Air Force Space Command.

Lt. Gen. Russell Handy, commander of the 11th Air Force at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska, will officiate the change of command ceremony.
