The Great Guam Shakeout, Oct. 15
The Great Guam Shakeout is an annual island-wide earthquake drill organized by Offices of Homeland Security and Civil Defense in collaboration with the Southern California Earthquake Center in an effort to conduct the largest earthquake drill in U.S. history. The goal of the event is to inspire the people of Guam to prepare for earthquakes, and to prevent disasters from becoming catastrophes.
Many Guam residents registered to participate in the Great Guam Shakeout in 2014, and was included in the list of over 78,000 participants on Guam. Once again, we ask for your support in our effort t to improve earthquake awareness by registering to participate and practice the earthquake safety procedure to Drop, Cover and Hold On, on October 15 at 10:15 a.m.
Join other agencies and organizations who have already committed their support by registering online at www.shakeout.org/guam. Tune in our local FM radio stations for broadcasted sound effects and messaging during the one minute drill.
Your continued support and participation will provide the opportunity to strengthen our partnership and continue to enhance our preparedness strategies, and learn how to better prepare, protect and recover from any disaster.

You are invited to join thousands of people who will "Drop, Cover, and Hold On” on Oct. 15 at 10:15 a.m. in the 2015 Great Guam ShakeOut!
More than 26.5 million people were registered in ShakeOut drills worldwide in 2014. Participating is a great way for your family or organization to become better prepared to survive and recover quickly from big earthquakes.
Why is “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” important to practice? You may only have seconds to protect yourself in an earthquake before strong shaking knocks you down, or something falls on you. Practicing helps you be ready to react. Visit ShakeOut.org/dropcoverholdon to learn more.
It is also recommended that you, your school or organization, and your community review and update plans and supplies, and secure your space in order to prevent damage and injuries.
Everyone can participate! Individuals, families schools, government agencies, businesses and other organizations are all invited to register.
