(June 7, 2019 – Tumon, Guam) – The Guam Brewery Tap House (The Tap House), Guam’s innovative craft beer and pub concept in Tumon Bay, announced its newest project – an 18-foot by 16-foot mural designed and painted by Guam artist Gino Datuin.

The Tap House invites its Founders Club members, customers and the general public to enjoy all 10 days of the artistic process. Datuin is scheduled to begin work on Saturday, June 8 from 11 am to 2 pm, and the painting will continue through Monday, June 17 from 11 am to 2 pm each day.

“The Tap House is excited to be working with Guam artist Gino Datuin to create an original artwork that captures our love and respect for fermented beverages – from the history of tuba making to commemorating the opening of the Guam Brewery, Guam’s newest production brewery,” said Mark Stotts, The Tap House’s general manager. “We invite everyone to come down and enjoy a great lunch or a cold pint while they engage with the artist as the mural comes to life.”

About the artist and mural

The mural will help tell the story of Guamanians’ love of fermented beverages through a look back at the history of tuba making through the modern brewing process at the Guam Brewery.

Artist Gino Datuin is a painter who was born and raised on Guam. He graduated from the University of Guam in 2018 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting with a minor in Sociology. He has exhibited with the Isla Center for the Arts, the Guam Filipino Artists, the Guam Art Exhibit, and most recently earned recognition for this participation in POW!WOW! Guam’s 2019 mural festival. He prefers mediums such as graphite, acrylics, and watercolors. Datuin, along with The Guam Brewery Tap House, will be posting daily updates on the progress of the new mural on Instagram -- @ginodatuin and @guambrewery.

Stotts added, “Art is an important part of breweries and brew pubs. Art helps us to reflect who we are visually, while expressing the Håfa Adai spirit of our island. The new mural will tell our story, and we are excited to be working closer with our local art community to do so.”

The Tap House is currently exhibiting the art of Guam artist Dawn Reyes. The public is welcome to stroll through the Tap House between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. to enjoy this collection.
