Guam High School deemed ‘all clear’ after bomb threat
On Thursday, February 22, E911 dispatch received a report of a bomb threat specifically mentioning the Guam High School location. After the Navy Police and Guam Police Department were able to conduct a sweep of the facility with use of K9 units, no threat was found, deeming the facility “All Clear.” Responders took all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the remaining school students, personnel, the surrounding public, and responders involved.
While the reported call mentioned the Guam High School address, all Guam based schools are advised to take necessary precautions throughout the day.
While current indications appear that there is no valid, credible threat to local schools, out of an abundance of caution, the Guam Department of Education (GDOE) has instructed school administrators to conduct a sweep of the campus before students and employees report to campus. Status updates from the sweep will be compiled once inspections are complete. GDOE schools are still in session unless additional information is received.
All threats of this nature are taken seriously. The Offices of Guam Homeland Security (GHS/OCD), the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC), Guam Police Department, along with federal partners will continue to monitor the situation closely and maintain a state of readiness.
