In response to public demand, Independent Guåhan in partnership with the Guam War Survivors Memorial Foundation is organizing a second “Ayuda i Mañainå-ta” event to assist our elders and their family members in completing World War II claim forms. The first event of this type held last December assisted 165 elders with the completion of their war claims applications.

The deadline to file claims is June 20, 2018, thus, the event will be held one month prior on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University of Guam Humanities and Social Science Atrium. The group is seeking volunteers and food donations for the event.

The following services and donations are needed:

•Volunteers (who will have to attend a 1-hour training prior) to fill out claim forms

•Volunteers to assist with logistics and host elders at the event

•Volunteers to assist with set-up and clean-up

• Official Notary Publics to notarize completed forms

• Monetary or food donations to provide refreshments for the day

Those wishing to offer help for this important event, can email independentguahan@gmail.com or call Francine Naputi at (671) 482-9674.
