The Japan Club of Guam will host the 20th Arts and Crafts Fair with the theme of “Sakura” (cherry blossom) at the Hotel Nikko Guam “TASI Ballroom” at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on 4 March, 2018.

The main purpose of this event is to strengthen the friendship between the communities of Japan and Guam by sharing the unique Japanese culture of arts and crafts with the people on Guam.

• Club members and guests will demonstrate the ancient Japanese tea

ceremony. Everyone is welcome to taste the special tea and experience this elegant ceremony. We have several performers from Japan, especially “Hayashiya Rakuichi” who is a professional paper-cutting artist. His performance is unique. He cuts paper freely without guides and produces various kinds of animals and other objects while telling stories. He also accepts requests from the audience for other cuttings. There will be musical performances, dance performances, and an Aikido martial art demonstration.

• Our sales and exhibition booths provide traditional Japanese arts and

crafts as well as traditional and modern fashion arts and crafts to suit various tastes. You are likely to find something interesting. Perhaps it will be the traditional Japanese doll collections, hand-sewn bead accessories, beautiful quilt works, origami arts, and many more. They will also sell “Akimatsuri Happi” - Japanese festival jackets.

• The event’s highlight is “Tea Ceremony” performed by Japan Consul

of Guam. This ceremony has been very popular every year. We will have 2 ceremony on the day, 11:55 to 12:35 and 2:15 to 2:55. Beside this ceremony, we will invite Japanese professional paper cutting performer Mr. Rakuichi Hayashiya from Japan. He will perform 2 times at 10:50 to 11:20 and 1:10 to 1:50 at center stage.

The Japan Club of Guam looks forward to spending a fun and happy time with the people of Guam.
