The 73rd Liberation Queens Committee announced the results of the Liberation Queen voting on June 24. Raffle committee chairperson Sinajana Vice-Mayor Rudy D. Iriarte presented the certified results to Mayor Rivera who revealed it to the awaiting anxious crowd.

“This year the 2017 Liberation Queens Candidates raised an amazing $143,196.79. The funds they raised will go to assist in the Memorials and Prayer Services as well as this year’s 73rd Liberation Parade. We want to recognize their efforts, the efforts of their parents and sponsors and the generosity of all those who supported them.” announced Mayor Rivera.

The 73rd Liberation Queen is Ms. Kaemiha Muna, 18, of Santa Rita, who raised $55,660.79. She is the daughter of the late Francisco Diaz Muna and Mrs. Selene Concepcion Muna, and is sponsored by the Santa Rita Mayor’s Office.

“During her reign she will represent Guam in numerous events and functions throughout the year,” Mayor Rivera added. “Queen Kaemiha also becomes part of Guam’s history as only 72 other women before her can say they held the title - Liberation Queen.” Congratulations to the village and people of Santa Rita. Santa Rita has regained the title of Liberation Queen, previously holding it for three years consecutively from 2013-15.

“On behalf of the Mayor’s Council of Guam a job well done!” Mayor Rivera concluded.
