Marines to volunteer in Hagåtña

ASAN, Guam (Feb. 23, 2018) – Marines from the Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 242 (VMFA 242) participating in Cope North 2018 will give back to the island community during the following volunteer projects:

Nieves M. Flores Memorial Library- Volunteers will visit the Hagåtña public library and read to children before joining them in arts and crafts projects Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Guam USA Wall Mural Beautification - Volunteers will assist community partners from the Island Beautification Task Force refurbish the “Guam USA” wall mural in East Hagåtña along Route 1, Marine Corps Drive. March 3 from 8 a.m. to noon.

VMFA-242, the “Bats,” is part of the Marine Aircraft Group 12 and the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing Stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan. Cope North 2018 is a multi-nation exercise consisting of a week-long humanitarian assistance and disaster relief training as well as a number of aerial and force employment events designed to increase readiness among allied nations of United States, Japan and Australia.
