Military spouses invited to Guam women’s summit
HAGÅTÑA, Guam (MARCH 25, 2019) — Local women in business will once again have an opportunity to be inspired, enlightened, and empowered both professionally and personally at the second HIGHTIDE Women’s Summit - Fanachu Famalao’an (Women Rising).
Presented by PDN, GEDA and Bank of Guam, HIGHTIDE will be an all-day event from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 12, at the Dusit Thani Guam Resort.
Attendees will have access to visionary entrepreneurs and thought leaders in their industry through a series of speaker panels, curated workshops, and mentor sessions. This top-tier event is the definitive gathering to learn, network, collaborate, expand and exchange ideas.
The theme of this year’s summit is “Fanachu Famalao’an.”
In 2019, Guam inaugurated its first female governor and women majority in the Legislature. HIGHTIDE seeks to celebrate this energy of female voice and give women on island additional tools and inspiration to achieve their highest success and fulfillment. This year also marks the fifth anniversary of the Guam Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
“Women on Guam are an increasingly powerful force in all aspects of local businesses. This event is meant to support them in harnessing and directing their expertise, creative talents, and drive for their benefit and that of our local economy,” said Guam Women’s Chamber of Commerce President Lina Leon Guerrero. “We had overwhelming success with our first HIGHTIDE Summit in 2017, and this one promises to be equally engaging.”
The original HIGHTIDE Summit was created in collaboration with GWCC by Stacie Krajchir-Tom, who was born and raised in Guam and runs a successful PR firm in Los Angeles. Stacie has orchestrated PR campaigns and high profile events for clients including W Hotels, Garnier, World Market and Quiksilver, as well as covered major red carpet premieres and produced a top-rated morning show for NBC and an Emmy-winning cooking show. Krajchir-Tom is a regular On-Air Contributor on Extra TV with Host Mario Lopez, Access Hollywood, NBC, CBS and Fox.
Krajchir-Tom will return to Guam for the upcoming summit. “The response to our first event was so overwhelming — I am so honored to again partner with the stellar team at Guam Women’s Chamber,” she said.
Following the first event, Krajchir-Tom surveyed local women in business on what topics they wanted to explore, to curate speakers who could directly target the topics that resonate most to professional women in Guam.
Topics that topped the list range from branding and raising capital, to expanding sales globally, and mobile payment options. On the personal development front, wellness, achieving life and work balance, and elevating self-care ranked high.
- Jen Bilk, CEO of Knock Knock, whose clever gift products are carried in 20,000 stores 45 countries worldwide, including Barnes & Noble and Urban Outfitters.
- Paco De Leon, Founder of the Hell Yeah Group, a boutique financial firm focused on inspiring creatives to be engaged with their personal and business finances.
- Freya Estreller, co-founder of Cool Haus, an architecturally themed and artisanal dessert company, and Head of Operations for Tea Drops, an award-winning company that makes organic dissolvable teas.
- Megan Villa, Creative Director of SVN Space, the first all female media platform that focuses on educating and elevating awareness about the many uses of hemp in products, farming , sustainability and wellness.
Supporting Local Businesses
Along with bringing guest speakers, GWCC also supports emerging local businesses. The one-day summit will have an on-site pop-up shop featuring products from local brands including ChamGlam Botanika, The Blue Latitude, Love From Guam and Maga’håga Rising.
Sustainability and Social Responsibility
Along with event partners and sponsors, HIGHTIDE is working to produce an event with a lighter carbon footprint than previous years. From incorporating topics on sustainability, eliminating single use plastics, to discussion on wellness, ocean conservation and a candid conversation about corporate social responsibility.
We have a local speaker addressing the state of our coral reefs, ocean and environmental impact during the program. Speakers will have the opportunity to do a coral reef survey as a way to experience the beauty of our island first-hand. In celebration of its fifth anniversary, the Women’s Chamber community will plant five trees.
