Navy to conduct Field Carrier Landing Practice at Andersen Air Force Base

by Commander, Joint Region Marianas
U.S. Navy

ASAN, Guam (May 22, 2020) – The U.S. Navy announced today it will conduct Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) at Andersen Air Force Base (AFB) starting May 22, in order to qualify the pilots of Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11 for underway carrier operations. All training, both day and night, will be conducted at Andersen AFB.

This routine training is required to prepare the pilots of the fixed wing aircraft (F/A-18E, F/A-18F, EA-18G, E-2C and C-2A) attached to USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) for operations at sea aboard the carrier. U.S. military operations launched from Guam in the Indo-Pacific region are routine and consistent with the forward presence we have maintained in the region, however, during FCLP there will be increased operations at Andersen AFB.
