DEDEDO, Guam (February 26, 2018) — The Island’s Healthcare Leaders; GMH, GRMC, USNH Guam, and 36th Med Group AAFB, held their quarterly meeting 26 Feb 2018. These Healthcare Partnership meetings occur to ensure the islands healthcare systems are connected and prepared in the event of acts of terror or natural disasters.

In addition to disaster preparedness, these healthcare CEOs and their leadership teams discuss areas where services can be shared. One example of this teamwork recently occurred where a patient of USNH Guam was too ill to fly, his condition was life threatening and the young child could not safely be air-lifted to another DOD Military Treatment Facility. Utilizing our TRICARE partners, USNH Guam reached out to GRMC; they had the needed specialties, they quickly accepted our patient and performed the life-saving procedure.

“We are one community, one Guam, and we share the same patients” said President, Chief Operating Officer and State Surgeon, Guam Army National Guard, Dr. Michael Cruz. “It is extremely important to share ideas, resources, and communicate.”

Dr. Michael Cruz, Capt. Dan Cornwell, and Col. Joel Almosara led the team in discussion during this quarters Healthcare Leadership rounds...Working together to improve the island’s health.
