Onward Mangilao Golf Club Fun Run Aug. 25

With a lot of races on the same course layout in Tiyan and Tumon, we wanted to provide runners of Guam with a unique opportunity to run on our golf course which is usually not accessible to runners. The run meanders along the best 9-holes of the golf in the Pacific including the infamous 12th Hole. The runners get to see spectacular sunrise in midst of running along beautiful lush greenery of the golf course and the natural beauty of the limestone forest and the ocean view.

In 2012, we’ve decided to include a short run to attract our younger youth runners and participants who like a less challenging route. The course run will take place at the golf club’s out-course, Holes 1 thru Hole 9. Although the ocean front scenic is limited on this course, runners/ walkers will still enjoy the view of the lush greenery, lakes, and the beautiful sunrise.

In 2016, we featured a 10K along with our 2K and 5K run. The course run will take place on the club’s 18-Hole both Out-course and In-course. Runners will capture the views of our lakes, beautiful greenery landscape, ocean view and a spectacular sunrise. It will be limited 750 runners so sign up early!!. Start time is 5:45am.

The first run took place in 2000 and has become popular over the past years. The course does have some hills but our great volunteers are on the course cheering on the runners and providing water for them. Participants can run, jog or walk. The idea is mainly to enjoy the natural beauty of Guam’s eastern shorelines. It’s been named as “The Most Spectacular Run” by the Guam Running Club. It’s a beautiful run yet challenging and you have to experience it to understand how it got its name.

The proceeds of the event benefit the Guam Junior Golf Programs and they are volunteers you will see on the course during the run. In addition all the staff and management also volunteer their time to make this event a success.

Most Road races are done in Km and miles so we decided to put the distance in yards and 5500 yard is roughly a 5k.

Runners will receive a race t-shirts, top three finishers in each category receive ribbons for their achievement and 1st place male and female runners receive a trophy which are given out at the after race party where light refreshments are served.  Each year we design the t-shirts with a unique designed based on our golf club bag tags. So these will eventually become a collector’s item.

Runners do not have to worry about cars and traffic and no boonie dogs.

The entry fees are $5 for those 17 yrs and under and $10 for adults and $15 on race day.

Registration from are available at Hornet in Tamuning, Goody’s in Upper Tumon, and Onward Mangilao Golf Club.
