War in the Pacific National Historical Park

In commemoration of the “75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Guam,” War in the Pacific National Historical Park will host a flag display at Asan Beach from Saturday, July 20, thru Monday, July 22, 2019.

United States and Guam flags will be displayed in the shape of the number “75.” The flags will be installed by volunteers beginning 7:00 am on Saturday, July 20.

In the afternoon of July 20, at 5:30 pm the public is invited to join us at the Asan Bay Overlook on Nimitz Hill to hear the III Marine Expeditionary Force Band performance. Following band performance at 6:15 pm, join park rangers for the evening program, “Untold Stories of the Pacific War.”

The program will feature special guests from various Pacific Islands who will share their personal war stories, some for the very first time.

At the conclusion of the presentations, the public will have the opportunity to view the illumination of the “75 Anniversary,” flags at Asan beach from the Asan Bay Overlook.

The park is seeking volunteers to help on July 20 at Asan Beach Unit with the flag installation at 7 am, and with the illumination of the flags that evening at 7 pm.

If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up by calling 671-333-4050 or emailing Art Davtian at artak_davtian@nps.gov.
