Tumon, Guam) Guam Sports Events, Inc. (GSE), organizers of the United Airlines Guam Marathon (UGM) has announced that online registration for the 2019 event in now open. UGM will return for its seventh year on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the Gov. Joseph F. Flores Memorial Park (Ypao Beach) in Tumon. GSE, title sponsor United Airlines, and gold sponsors Pacific Islands Club (PIC) and the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) invite runners to register online and begin training for Guam’s premier running event.

“Plans are well underway for the 2019 event, and we anticipate drawing more than 4,000 residents and runners from around the world to participate in UGM 2019,” said Ben Ferguson, Managing Director and Founder of Guam Sports Events, Inc.

Runners who register before Jan. 31 will have the option to personalize their race bib, which will become an exclusive memento from the race. UGM will be the first local event to utilize personalized race bibs.

Ferguson added, “Personalized race bibs will be something new for Guam, and will allow spectators to cheer on the runners by name along the race course. UGM promotes interaction amongst the runners, and we think this will help runners to make new friends and engage with fellow runners throughout their UGM experience.”

This feature is available for a limited time as an incentive for runners to register and begin their training programs early.

UGM offers four race distances for the 2019 event – 5k, 10k, half marathon (13.1 miles) and marathon (26.2 miles). All races begin in front of GVB and end at the Gov. Joseph F. Flores Memorial Park (Ypao Beach), where runners enjoy the beautiful waters of Tumon Bay. The unique "out and back" course is designed to take advantage of Guam’s beautiful scenery along the western coastline of Guam. Race course information, along with other 2019 event details can be accessed on UGM’s website,, and through the event’s free mobile app.

“United Airlines is ready for UGM 2019,” said Sam Shinohara, Managing Director, Airport Operations, Asia/Pacific. “UGM is a very important event for Guam, because it’s the only local sporting event that welcomes half of its participants from all over the globe. Our United network is already promoting UGM in the different markets, and we look forward to working with GSE, GVB and PIC to make UGM 2019 even more spectacular for everyone.”
