SANTA RITA, Guam (June 20, 2018) “Seabee Debbie,” Debbie Peredo (in red), daughter of Seabee Betty, Capt. Stephanie Jones, commanding officer of Naval Facilities Engineering Command Marianas, Seabees, family, and friends of Seabee Betty release balloons during a Seabee Betty remembrance ceremony at the Guam Veterans Ceremony. Vicenta Peredo, known throughout the Seabee force as “Seabee Betty,” established a relationship with American service members in the 1950s and supported thousands of Seabees that passed through Guam until her death in 2003.
