Service members to lend a hand during coastal cleanup

ASAN, Guam (Sept. 18, 2015) – Service members on Guam will join the local community to pick up trash during the 21st annual Guam International Coastal Cleanup beginning at 7 a.m., Sept. 19.

Military members from Joint Region Marianas, U.S. Naval Hospital Guam, Andersen Air Force Base and other commands will be at various locations around Guam to help reduce trash at 25 sites on island.  

In 2014, more than 4,000 volunteers collected 22,658 pounds of waste including paper, aluminum cans, household goods and cardboard among other items at the island’s annual largest volunteer cleanup event.
