There’s never a wrong time to start improving your health. While it may seem daunting, weekly meal prepping might be just the thing you need to kick-start your healthier life. Ana Traficante, personal trainer and aerobics class instructor from USAG Bavaria, says that by eating and exercising correctly, your body will have a boost of energy and function better.
Here are five simple tips from Traficante about how to start your meal prepping journey.
1. Find a goal.
Whether it be to lose fat, gain muscle, or both, decide what is best for you and feasible at this time. For example, Traficante is currently training for a fitness
bikini competition. Her goals are to eat seven times a day, with whey protein in the morning and at night with water, as her diet is protein-intense.
2. Look online for healthy recipes. Pinterest is a fantastic resource for all your recipes. You can easily search for and save recipes right on the site. Traficante’s favorite healthy meal to prep is ground beef, spinach, and eggs.
3. Prepare your food for the entire week. It will be time-consuming and may take a few weeks to get the hang of exactly how much food you need, but try to spend a chunk of time on Sunday prepping food for the entire week. Incorporate protein, veggies, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates.
4. Incorporate exercise. Exercise daily for best results recommends Traficante, even if it’s just for 20 minutes a day. However, she understands that life gets busy. Try to work out at least three times a week. Exercising helps to boost energy, muscle strength, and cardiovascular endurance, Traficante says. It also helps reduce stress, she adds.
5. Stick with it! “Don’t give up! It is not easy, but in the end, you will be happy with the results,” says Traficante. “Being healthy is the key to living a longer life,” says Traficante. “You are only given one body, so treat it right!”
While it may not be the easiest thing you have ever done, meal prepping for a healthier lifestyle doesn’t have to be difficult. Get in the habit of planning what you are going to eat for the week, add a little exercise, and you will see results in no time.
