The Veterans Suicide Prevention Channel to present at the Army One Source Joint Community Forces Alliance meeting
ROUND ROCK, TEXAS: Army One Source a Secretary Of The Army Initiative is responsible for building service capacity for geographically dispersed Service members and their Families through the mobilization of the community. Army One Source has asked Glenn Towery and the Veterans Suicide Prevention Channel (VSPChannel) to join the Joint Community Forces Alliance Group as the collaborating conduit for public and private entities to assist veterans, military and family members in the state of Texas. This will create a wrap around of services to positively impact veteran suicides in the state of Texas giving organizations a much broader platform to engage and assist more Veterans, Military and Military family members.
The VSPChannel is in the planning stages of creating a mode of operation that will benefit many of the organizations servicing veterans in the state of Texas. As a channel, we will be able to offer veterans and these organizations broadcast services previously unavailable to them. Through a televised broadcast, the VSPChannel will provide referral and information services as well as entertainment in the privacy of veterans homes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. “The focus of the VSPChannel will continue to be the prevention of veterans suicides and to be of service to veterans and their family members, but creating this hub will expand what we can offer even more,” says Glenn Towery, founder and chairman of the VSPChannel.
The VSPChannel was founded in January of 2015. It is a nonprofit organization with an IRS 501 c 3 status. Presently, the VSPChannel has a media player on its website: www.vspchannel.com. Since the channel’s creation, six pilot shows have been completed that promote wellness and good health for veterans and their family members who may be suffering from PTSD, depression, anxiety, paranoia and mental illness.
Veterans service organizations will be invited to join the VSPChannel’s “Veteran Services Hub” to unify veteran service organizations and broadcast them through the VSPChannel. As a Veteran Services Hub member, each organization will be able to access and broadcast their services to veterans through the VSPChannel. The VSPChannel will work with them in order to create a higher public profile for their organization. Members will have the ability to pitch and create shows based on their mission to serve our veterans and receive advertisement from sponsors of their programs, goods and services. Specifics to these and other benefits will be further discussed at an upcoming meeting planned by Texas DOD representative and Texas State ARMY OneSource coordinator, Murphy Roland. This meeting will be held at the TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION, on August 21, 2015.
