Tumon, Guam, On June 16, 2017 Autospot GMC will be hosting a “Welcome Home Champ” fundraiser for Joe “Iron Assassin” Gogo at Kentos from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Joe is a 4X Muay Thai champion and after being away for a few years, has come home for a few weeks before he returns to San Diego to start his training camp for a shot at the WBC title fight in August. Joe has earned his way up the Muay Thai circuit currently holding 4 championship belts with a professional record of 9 wins and 1 loss. He is a proud son of Guam and is looking forward to meeting everyone during his time on island. Since his recent arrival, he has been active in the community encouraging Guam’s youth which includes speaking at the Department of Youth Affairs and training them in the art of Muay Thai. “I want to inspire the uninspired” says Joe Gogo.

Joe was born and raised in Yona, Guam. Graduated from Notre Dame High School, Talofofo, Guam in 2006, and played the sports of rugby as an outside center. Played football for Father Duenas as a defensive end, defensive nose guard, running back and made all-island in both sports. Represented Guam in the First U-19 national rugby team and came in second place. Attended classes at the University of Guam prior to relocating to Hawaii, to continue to pursue higher education in Kinesiology and Rehabilitative Sciences. Volunteerism in the school, includes altar serving, beautification, and fundraising activities at Saint Francis Church, Yona as well as community outreach service projects.

“Volunteerism is a tradition in Guam,” says Joe. “I was able to be part of and experience all of the exciting aspects of Chamorro culture from our local Chamoru food famous for barbecues, red rice,

kelaguen of all types and pickled food items.” He adds on his fighting style, “I’m more of a tactical brawler and a pressure fighter who likes to draw you out to do something that is not characteristic of you.”
