If you want to work in the health profession, Guam Community College can help you get a foot in the door.
The GCC Nursing & Allied Health Department is offering a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course from May 1 to June 17, 2017. The CNA course is designed to prepare students to function professionally and competently under the supervision of the LPN, RN, or MD, in clinical areas such as home health, community health, hospitals, clinics, private medical offices, and mental health facilities. Students who are selected for and who successfully complete this course will generate the knowledge and illustrate the skills required to pass the National Nurse Aide Licensing Exam, which will enable them to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
The $650 course fee includes books, supplies, and a Basic Life Support certification card. Students will earn a total of five (5) undergraduate credits upon successful completion of the course.
Applicants must be 18 years or older. Only ten (10) applicants will be selected, and will be required to submit police and court clearances 30 days prior to the start of clinical rotations at GMHA. These documents must be clear of any felonies, misdemeanors, charges, and/or violation(s) of law. A drug screening is also required, as well as a current physical from the applicant’s physician.
This course is being offered by a GCC Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) grant. For more information, please contact Leilani Duenas at 735-8886 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
