War in the Pacific National Historical Park

This summer, War in the Pacific National Historical Park along with partner Pacific Historic Parks is proud to host the first Guahan Heritage Academy. The Guahan Heritage Academy helps youth go beyond the text book and experience the rich history of Guam by immersing them in our island’s heritage and culture. History is brought to life by hands-on activities, cultural games, traditional foods, artifacts, songs, dance and sports. Students also discover unique stories from multiple perspectives through WWII survivor interviews, historical monologues, visiting museums, field trips and tours at the War in the Pacific National Historical Park and other historic sites.

The Guahan Heritage Academy is free and will run from June 10 to June 14, 2019 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Youth entering 6th, 7th and 8th grades are eligible to join but must register to participate. Registration packets and $20.00 refundable deposits can be turned in at the T. Stell Newman Visitor Center (located in Sumay, near the Naval Station Guam front gate across from Taco Bell) between the hours of 9:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Sunday. Seats are limited and filled on a first come, first serve basis. Registration ends when all of the seats are filled or June 3, 2019.

For more information, visit the T. Stell Newman Visitor Center in Sumay, email tsortor@pacifichistoricparks.org, or call 671-482-1234.
