Navy holds Industry Day at UOG
MANGILAO, Guam (March 22, 2017) – The Navy sponsored an Industry Day for ship repair and training with local businesses March 21 at the University of Guam.
Representatives from Commander, Submarine Force (SUBPAC), U.S. Pacific Fleet in Hawaii visited to discuss capabilities, capacities and resources in support of welding, sheet metal, electronic, electrical and pipefitting repair.
Capt. Nonito Blas, who works in Material Readiness at SUBPAC, led discussions with island contractors at the Jesus and Eugenia Leon Guerrero School of Business and Public Administration.
“The goal of Industry Day was to understand each other’s capabilities and resources across the public and private sector,” Blas said. “We wanted to provide resources to these companies on Guam to help the ship repair contracting process.”
About 30 members from Guam’s private industry ship-repair partners attended.
