Pique your middle schooler’s interest in Technology at GCC STEEP!
This winter break, the increasingly popular GCC Sustainable Technologies & Environmental Education Program (STEEP) invites middle school students ages 11-13 years old to learn about the world of sustainability in a very “hands-on” way.
The STEEP will take place from December 27, 2017 through January 5, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the GCC Student Center Training Room (Rm. 5108). The program is FREE to students registered in GCC’s Reach for College program. The cost to attend the 7-day program is only $100 for those not registered in Reach for College.
“This year’s STEEP is focusing on the connection between human health and the natural world,” according to Francisco “Kiko” Palacios, GCC Sustainability Coordinator and STEEP director.
“The students will be learning about and engaging in projects that will enhance their understanding of sustainability, and open their eyes to the possible careers in these fields,” Palacios said. “We will be covering topics in renewable energy, energy, human health and gardening, as well as the culinary arts,” added Palacios.
Register your student(s) for the STEEP by December 15th by logging onto http://tinyuri.com/regisandwaive, where you can download the registration and waiver forms. Or, log onto www.guamcc.edu and go to Events on the front page to access the STEEP information and registration form.
